HUNTER’S POINT BOARDWALK DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY
OF
GARY M. BARKER
The Hunter’s Point Boardwalk has been dedicated to the memory of Gary
M. Barker. Gary was a Lac LaBelle First Responder who lost his life after
being stricken on a First Responder Run to Bare Bluff in August of 2008.
Gary had served his community as a Grant Township Trustee, Fire Fighter,
First Responder and was a member of the Keweenaw County 911
Readdressing Committee. The dedication took place at the Grant Township
Hall in Copper Harbor on July 18, 2009.

A CARING MAN IS GONE NOW,
AND THIS WORLD SEEMS
A LITTLE LESSENED SOMEHOW
BECAUSE HE IS NOT PART OF IT
A LITTLE LESS WISE AND GREAT,
A LITTLE LESS GOOD AND BRAVE,
MAY IT HELP TO KNOW THAT HE
WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN
BY THOSE WHOSE LIVES HE TOUCHED.
AND MAY OUR CHERISHED MEMORIES
BRING HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS COMFORT.
