August 7th Copperman Triathlon
Benefits Hunter's Point

The Copperman Triathlon, an annual event organized this year by the Keweenaw Memorial Rehab and Fitness Center, attracted over 200 participants from 9 states. The event included a 1/2-mile swim, 18 1/2 mile bike race, and a 5-mile run. Event Coordinator Terry Smyth reported the participants were pleased with the new venue, Fort Wilkins State Park. At a September 28th ceremony, held at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center, Hospital Administrator Charles Nelson and Event Coordinator Terry Smyth presented Grant Township's Richard Powers with a $2,184 donation to the Township's Hunter's Point Project. Mr. Powers thanked them for choosing Grant Township to be the recipient of this year's donation. He noted the Triathlon is a major event in Copper Harbor and he is looking forward to helping with next year's race.
